Nature cover story: The ecology of human conflict

A team led by CABDyN Scientific Management Board member Neil Johnson has published its findings on a universal model for the pattern of timing and casualties in human insurgency and terrorist attacks in Nature.  The 17 December 2009 issue of Nature features this piece of research as its cover story, and contains a related news item that discusses whether such models make wars more predictable.  Neil is currently based at the University of Miami, but this line of work was initiated and many of the initial results were obtained while he was at the Department of Physics in Oxford.  For the article in Nature see here.  For the accompanying news item see here.
